Give a little to
make a big impact

We open our doors.
We extend hospitality to our neighbors. We save lives.

Here is how we do it.
From November through March each congregation takes a turn hosting the shelter for one or two weeks.
Each night volunteers from the congregations and the community at large cook and serve a hot meal and provide breakfast for the next morning and a carry-out lunch.

A paid overnight supervisor arrives at the meeting place at 8:45 pm. Adults who need shelter for the night gather there between 8:45 and 9 pm. They walk with the supervisor or are driven to the hosting location. At 6 am the next morning they return to the meeting place.

The Emergency Shelter Partnership is a registered 501(c)3 organization in Northern Westchester County, NY which provides short-term, emergency shelter for those who need shelter during the coldest five months of the winter.

We are a coalition of interfaith congregations that operate in two separate, but similar areas. Our East area covers Armonk, Bedford, Chappaqua, Katonah and Mt. Kisco; our West area covers Briarcliff, Croton, Ossining, Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. We provide overnight shelter and warm nutritious meals to homeless adults during the coldest months of the year. We are joined in this effort by community organizations that provide a variety of support services to shelter participants.

Due to COVID-19 our operations this season are streamlined. Our guests stay at the host location for several weeks at a time and supporting congregations provide food each night for a week at a time. ESP has taken extensive steps to ensure that our guests, volunteers and supervisors are in the safest possible environment – we have installed partitions, have health and wellness checks, daily sanitizing practices.

Whether you want to prepare a meal, serve a meal or help behind the scenes, there is room for you! Youth and Scout groups are welcome.

We are always looking for people willing to share their skills in Finance, IT, Legal, Marketing, Communications and Grant Writing.

From time to time, we have need to hire paid supervisors and van drivers, please inquire or view JOB DESCRIPTIONS tab above.

Our needs throughout the season do change, please view our most current volunteer needs or contact us at: info@esp-ny.org / 914-582-5020

“Your Gifts, both large and small will help us to achieve our mission of helping those
who have no homes”.

Thank you in advance for your generous support that allows us to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need of shelter during the winter months.
